Indian women’s cricket team skipper has become the most capped player in women’s ODI cricket. She achieved the milestone of 192 matches during the first ODI against England at Vidarbha Cricket Association stadium in Nagpur. Mithali surpassed England’s Charlotte Edwards who retired in September after playing 191 ODIs.
She is also just three ODIs short to become number one in most matches played as a captain. She has played 115 ODIs as a captain, while Charlotte Edwards has played 117 matches as a captain.
Mithali Raj is also the only woman to cross the 6,000 run mark in ODIs. She’s also the first player to score seven back to back half centuries. She is the first Indian to have led the Indian team to ICC ODI World cup final twice - 2005 and 2017.
After winning Arjuna award, she was also honored with Padma Shri in 2015 for her contribution to the game.
